Why did you want this job?
I have always been interested in drawings since I was a student.
I wanted to do work related to drawings after graduation, and I chose a university with a major in drawings.
In business conversations in work, I hear many technical terms that cannot be learned even in Japanese standards and universities, and I feel it is very rewarding, as someone who is deeply interested in Japanese.

Details of current work
My main duties are preparing drawings for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, etc. and calculating their strength in accordance with Japanese standards, laws, and regulations.
A special characteristic of the pressure vessels manufactured by us is that there are very few repeated orders.
So, in order to respond appropriately to customer requirements and requests for each project, not only sales personnel but also design personnel must communicate closely with customers.
That job is also an absolutely essential mission in our duties. -
At what moments do you feel your efforts are especially valuable?
As I repeat my daily work, I feel that my knowledge is gradually expanding and growing.
In calculation work, even slight errors may lead to failures, and you need to be aware of them thoroughly and check every detail during work.
As a result of working with this point kept in mind, I feel that I have earned the trust of our customers with such words of gratitude as “We have no (bad) comments about the drawings!” “We are satisfied with the estimate!” and “Thank you for your proposal!”
That customer trust gives me energy to persevere and carry through work, no matter how difficult it is.

A moment when you realize you’ve grown
When I joined the company, I did not understand JIS, JPI, and other standards at all, and I could not calculate strength or deal with the provisions of laws and regulations.
There are so many Japanese terms related to canning, and I felt my vocabulary was very sparse.
However, thanks to working in a good workplace, I have absorbed a lot of things over the years, and now I feel that I have a knowledge level with which I can deal with Japanese standards to some extent.
I also think my Japanese vocabulary has developed much more than before.
